Five Coast soccer teams play for state titles this weekend. Here’s what to know.
South Mississippi soccer has dominated the statewide playoffs this year, with 31 total wins coming from 16 different schools who made it beyond the first round of the postseason.
As the dust settled, five of the eight championship games being held on Saturday will feature a Gulf Coast team.
Here is who, when and where to catch the title matches involving high school teams from the Mississippi Coast.
Girls
Our Lady Academy vs St. Andrews
Noon at Ridgeland High School
St. Patrick won the district title but OLA took the South State championship from the Fighting Irish with a 2-0 win to punch its ticket to the Class I state title game.
Stone vs New Albany
Noon at Brandon High School
Twins Mary Grace Batson and Caroline Batson were responsible for all three goals in a shutout win over Northeast Jones to give the Lady Cats a spot in the 4A championship game.
Boys
St. Stanislaus vs St. Andrews
2 p.m. at Ridgeland High School
St. Stanislaus is going after title number 12 this week in the Class I boy’s championship match. The Rock-A-Chaws edged St. Patrick 1-0 in the South State title game.
Bay vs Richland
2 p.m. at Brandon High School
Aiden Boudro scored Bay’s first of two goals against Stone and the Tigers won 2-0 to claim a spot in the 4A title match.
Long Beach vs New Hope
6 p.m. at Brandon High School
The reigning 5A state champs will get a shot at their second ever boy’s soccer title after beating West Jones 2-0.
