D’Iberville’s football coach is leaving the Coast for a new gig. ‘It’s home.’
Larry Dolan has left D’Iberville after a successfull three-year stint as the Warriors’ head coach and is returning to Forrest County Agricultural High School.
Dolan coached the Warriors to a 29-6 record and three playoff trips, including a 19-2 regional record. Dolan’s three years were the winningest trio of consecutive seasons D’Iberville has had since 2006-2008.
He’s returning to his alma mater where he was the head coach from 2000 to 2013. Dolan won a 4A state title with the Aggies in 2013.
“There’s not another job in Mississippi I would’ve left D’Iberville for,” Dolan told the Sun Herald. “This is a great place down here. These people are great. Forrest County AHS, the only reason I’m going back there is because it’s home. It’s where I feel like I’m supposed to end my career.”
Dolan still lives just 10 miles from Forrest County AHS and has been commuting the hour to D’Iberville for the past three years.
He leaves D’Iberville having coached a 6A Mr. Football in Justin Walley and has the highest regional win percentage, .905, in Warrior program history.
“I feel like I’ve left D’Iberville in a good situation,” Dolan said. “I’m not leaving them hanging. We’ve had some success here.”
Dolan was approved by the school board on Wednesday to take over the Forrest County AHS football program. The Aggies have struggled in recent years, winning just six games over the last four seasons.
D’Iberville will begin its search for its 16th head football coach.
