A group of Coast athletes are signing to play football at the next level on early signing day with a another expected to sign by the end of the week.

Moss Point wide receiver Larry Simmons was the first to send in his national letter of intent to play at Ole Miss for head coach Lane Kiffin.

Simmons had a highly productive career with the Tigers, logging 2,688 receiving yards and 28 caught touchdowns. The athletic prospect also added 13 rushing touchdowns.

Simmons is a three star recruit on 247sports.com who fielded offers from some of the top programs in the country. Among the teams who sent scholarship offers were Alabama, Auburn, Miami and Oregon.

Shortly after Simmons’ name came through, Mike Leach and Mississippi State announced the signing of George County wide receiver Marquez Dortch.

Dortch is a four star prospect with big speed. He received offers from a host of schools, including Ole Miss, Arkansas and Auburn.

The 247sports scouting report gave Dortch a player comparison to former Southern Miss star receiver Quez Watkins.

Along with Dortch, George Co. teammate Ashton Hollins signed his NLI to play at Illinois. Hollins did it all for the Rebels, playing quarterback, wide receiver and defensive back.

Rounding out the day was Poplarville linebacker Khalid Moore sending in his NLI to Miss. State. Moore is a three star recruit who held an offer from each in-state FBS school.

Moore was a tackle machine for the Hornets and helped carry PHS to two state title game appearances. Moore performed well in the Alabama-Mississippi all star game, recently. He picked up six tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and an interception.

Biloxi defensive lineman RJ Moss is a Miss. State commit and is also expected to sign with the Bulldogs this offseason.

Gautier offensive lineman Bryson Hurst signed his papers with Ole Miss on Thursday. His signature was delayed due to his participation in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Hurst is a four star lineman who had decommitted from the Rebels but reaffirmed his decision after a recent visit.
