These 40 star athletes named to 5A all-district football teams on the MS Coast

Area coaches announced the top players and all-region team for 5A Region 4 and it includes some of the top athletes on the Coast.

Picayune, Gautier and Vancleave headline the honors while 40 total players dot the MVP offensive and defensive teams from eight different schools.

Vancleave running back Dayan Bilbo was named Region 4 Player of the Year after running for 2,577 yards and 40 touchdowns. The senior eclipsed the 100-yard mark in every game he played this year. Bilbo is a three-sport athlete who finished his football-playing career at VHS with over 5,000 yards of total offense.

Offensive Player of the Year honors went to Gautier quarterback Kaden Irving. He finished his junior campaign with 3,687 passing yards and 39 touchdowns. Irving also ran for 534 yards and nine scores.

Picayune linebacker Amarion Tyson took home the Defensive Player of the Year award following a busy season in the middle of the Maroon Tide defense. Tyson has registered 169 total tackles with still another game to play. Just a sophomore, Tyson also added 18 tackles for loss and three sacks.

Cody Stogner was named coach of the year by the region’s coaches. Stogner led the Maroon Tide to the area title and has PHS in the 5A state championship game.

East Central, Georgia County and GHS led the region with eight total selections each while PHS had six total players on the list. West Harrison and VHS had four selections apiece. Pearl River Central was represented by three players while Long Beach placed two.
