Gulfport stays undefeated in win over Hancock. Here are all the high school scores.

Gulfport continued its strong start to Region 4-6A play with a convincing 49-29 victory over Hancock on Friday night at Milner Stadium.

The Admirals (5-2 overall) remained undefeated in region at 3-0 behind another strong game from running back Tyler Reed, who rushed for 126 yards and three touchdowns.

Hancock (3-3, 0-3) opened the game strong, however, grabbing a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.

“We came out a little flat, but we responded pretty well,” said Gulfport coach John Archie. “We found ourselves and got things rolling on offense and defense.”

Quarterback Jacob Palazzo got things turned around in a hurry for Gulfport. Palazzo connected with Tavaris Henshaw on a 90-yard touchdown pass, then tied the game with a 28-yard scoring pass to Gavin Brown.

Reed put Gulfport ahead with 3:09 to play in the second quarter on a 1-yard run, and the Admirals applied the coup de grace on the final play of the first half, 35-yard touchdown pass from Palazzo to Cameron Joseph.

Reed capped a touchdown drive with the opening kickoff of the second half with a 5-yard run, then added a 27-yard scoring run late in the third quarter.

Brown had a 2-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter to give Gulfport a 49-14 lead, before the Hawks rallied with two fourth-quarter touchdowns.

Gulfport will take to the road next week for a showdown against unbeaten Harrison Central; Hancock is at home against D’Iberville.

“They’re a really good football team, undefeated,” said Archie. “We have to have a better start than we had last night. We’ll have to bring our A-game next week.”

Picayune 28, East Central 14

The Maroon Tide passed an important test on the road with a Region 4-5A victory over the Hornets.

Amarion Tyson’s 71-yard scoop-and-score in the third quarter turned the game around for Picayune (6-1 overall, 3-0 region).

East Central (4-2, 2-1) took a 7-0 halftime lead after quarterback Deuce Hugger scored on a 17-yard run late in the second quarter.

Picayune tied it in the third quarter on a 9-yard run by Noah Carter, after a 27-yard pass from Dawson Underwood to Tamauz Davis set up the touchdown.

The Hornets were driving with the ensuing kickoff, when the ball came loose into the grasp of Tyson, who dashed untouched for the touchdown. The Maroon Tide extended their lead midway through the fourth quarter on a 1-yard run by Underwood.

Hugger scored late in the game on a 9-yard run, but Picayune recovered the onside kick to finish the win.

Picayune will travel to West Harrison next week; East Central is at Long Beach.

Ocean Springs 35, Biloxi 0

The third-ranked Greyhounds kept it rolling Thursday night with a shutout win over the Indians at Hugh Pepper Field.

Ocean Springs remained undefeated, 6-0 overall and 3-0 in Region 4-6A; Biloxi dropped to 1-5 and 0-3.

David Humphries ran for 231 yards on 22 carries and Bray Hubbard had a hand in all five touchdowns for the Hounds.

Hubbard was 12 of 16 passing for 148 yards and three touchdowns of 21, 15 and 18 yards, all to Holton White, who finished with seven catches for 98 yards. Hubbard also ran 15 times for 83 yards and two scores.

DeeJay Bailey was 18 of 25 passing for 170 yards for the Indians, eight passes going to Deon Hardin for 108 yards.

Ocean Springs will play at Pascagoula next week, and Biloxi is also on the road at St. Martin.

D’Iberville 27, Pascagoula 25

Drey Lenoir ran for 146 yards on nine carries and two touchdowns to get the Warriors back on track in Region 4-6A.

Kole Davis added 89 yards on seven carries for D’Iberville (6-1 overall, 2-1 region) and scored the first touchdown of the game on a 17-yard run.

Lenoir’s 20-yard touchdown run gave the Warriors a 14-3 lead after the first quarter, and Colton Deshazo made it 20-3 at halftime with a 3-yard run. For the game, D’Iberville amassed 296 yards on the ground.

Pascagoula (1-6, 0-3) scored two unanswered touchdowns to close the margin to 20-18, but Lenoir ripped off a 72-yard touchdown run to give D’Iberville enough of a lead to hold on in the fourth quarter.

Jonathan Scott had 13 tackles to lead the Warriors on defense, and Deshazo had 12 stops, including two for loss.

D’Iberville is at Hancock next week, while the Panthers host Ocean Springs.

Gautier 42, West Harrison 28

Kaden Irving tossed four touchdown passes and ran for another to lift the Gators in Region 4-5A play at West Harrison.

Gautier (5-1 overall, 2-1 region) took a 21-0 lead after the first quarter on touchdown passes to Ayden Morgan and Aaron Phillips sandwiched around a pick-six by Shamarie Carroll.

Irving had a touchdown run and a scoring pass to Derrell Ray to give Gautier a 35-0 halftime lead. Irving added a TD pass to Morgan in the third quarter.

The Hurricanes (1-5, 0-3) scored four touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

Gautier is at home next week against Vancleave. West Harrison hosts Picayune.

Moss Point 37, Pass Christian 27

The Tigers scored 22 points in the third quarter to build an insurmountable lead over the Pirates for a home victory in Region 8-4A.

Jamarius Brown’s 12-yard run, and Larry Simmons’ PAT run put Moss Point (4-3 overall, 2-0 region) ahead 29-18, and Simmons made it 37-18 early in the fourth quarter with a 5-yard touchdown run and conversion.

Pass Christian (3-3, 0-1) picked up a safety and a late touchdown, but the Tigers recovered an onside kick attempt to close out the game.

Moss Point will travel to Leakesville next week to face Greene County, while Pass hosts Bay High, which had a bye this week.

Harrison Central 33, St. Martin 13

The Red Rebels remained undefeated, pulling away from the Yellowjackets in Region 4-6A play at St. Martin.

Harrison Central (6-0 overall, 3-0 region) never trailed after taking a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. St. Martin (2-4, 1-2) narrowed the margin to 14-7 in the second quarter.

The Red Rebels added a third-quarter touchdown and scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter after a Yellowjacket score.

Harrison Central has a showdown at home against Gulfport in a clash of 3-0 region teams. St. Martin will host Biloxi.

Stone 36, Greene County 28

The Tomcats had an offensive breakout in the Region 8-4A win at Greene County.

Stone (2-4 overall, 1-1 region) scored on a long touchdown run and PAT run with four minutes to play in the game to get past the Wildcats (3-4, 1-1).

The two teams played through six lead changes and the score was tied 28-28 when the Tomcats mounted their winning drive.

Stone gets the week off next week, while Greene County hosts Moss Point.

George County 49, Vancleave 28

The Rebels pulled away with three touchdowns in the fourth quarter to remain unbeaten in Region 4-5A.

George County (3-3 overall, 3-0 region) took a 21-14 lead in the second quarter and led 28-21 after the third quarter.

The Rebels will travel to Carriere to face Pearl River Central next week. Vancleave (2-5, 1-2) is at Gautier.

Poplarville 46, Lawrence County 13

The Hornets eased past the Cougars in Region 7-4A action at Monticello.

Poplarville (6-1 overall, 2-0 region) took a 9-6 lead in the first quarter, pulled away to a 23-6 halftime lead and led 39-13 after three quarters.

The Hornets will be back home next week to take on Forrest County AHS. Lawrence County (4-3, 1-1) plays at Sumrall.

West Marion 26, St. Stanislaus 20

The Trojans overcame a 20-14 deficit with two late touchdowns to defeat the Rockachaws in Region 8-3A play at Bay St. Louis.

West Marion (4-3 overall, 2-0 region) will travel to Perry Central next week, while St. Stanislaus (2-4, 1-1) is at Seminary.

Pearl River Central 60, Long Beach 7

The Blue Devils won for the first time this season in emphatic fashion against the winless Bearcats at Long Beach.

Both teams are at home next week. PRC (1-6 overall, 1-2 region) hosts George County; Long Beach (0-5, 0-3) entertains East Central.

Perry Central 52, St. Patrick 0

The Bulldogs were easy winners over the Fighting Irish in Region 8-3A play at New Augusta.

Perry Central (3-4 overall, 1-1 region) hosts West Marion next week; St. Patrick (1-6, 0-2) is at Jefferson Davis County.

Bay Springs 24, Resurrection 0

The Eagles dropped to 1-2 in Region 4-1A after the home loss to the Bulldogs.

Resurrection (4-2 overall) looks to get back on track next week at Richton. Bay Springs (4-3, 3-0) is at Mount Olive.

Christian Collegiate 53, Rebul 6

The Bulldogs improved to 4-3 overall with the road victory. Christian Collegiate plays at home against Porter’s Chapel next week.
