Coast high school shuts down football practices after coach tests positive for COVID-19

Football practices at Pass Christian High School and Middle School have been shut down after a member of the coaching staff tested positive for COVID-19.

Pass Christian athletic director Tim Ladner confirmed that practices had been shut down as of Monday after the coach, who Ladner declined to identify, tested positive on Saturday. School officials expect the shutdown to last for two weeks.

Members of the high school and middle school teams had been taking part in group drills on the field in preparation for the upcoming season.

“We had guidelines in place that have been handed down,” Ladner said. “We’ve tried to follow the advice of the CDC and the Mississippi Department of Health.”

Ladner said that parents have been notified. Players and coaches who have attended practice this summer have been asked to monitor for COVID-19 symptoms while practices are shut down.
