Everything you need to know about the 2020 HoopsFest basketball tournament in Biloxi

The schedule is set for the 2020 Hoopsfest with the Coast’s top high school basketball programs again taking the court at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi

There will be seven games played in the 26th annual tournament on Jan. 25, starting at 10 a.m. There will also be a “Hot Shots” competition that will involve the top 3-point shooters who will be competing that day.

The final game of the day, Oak Grove-Biloxi, will feature a battle between head coaches who were once college teammates at William Carey in Hattiesburg — Biloxi’s Seber Windham and LaRon Brumfield of Oak Grove. The game will tip off at 8 p.m.

“When the other team is ranked No. 2 in the state, you’ve got your hands full,” Windham said. “As a program, we feel really privileged to be playing one of the late games again. Coming into this year, nobody thought we’d be where we’re at right now.”

Entering the Wednesday announcement of the tournament’s pairings, Oak Grove was 12-1 and Biloxi was 13-2.

For the second consecutive season, HoopsFest will include a Unified basketball game that features special needs students. After Ocean Springs students took part in 2019, Pascagoula students will be participating this year.

Tickets can be purchased for $8 through participating high school teams. If you buy a ticket in advance at the box office, the cost is $10. Tickets will be available for $11 on the day of the tournament.

A $5 parking fee will be charged to the public.
