Prep Roundup: D’Iberville girls win Region 4 District powerlifting title

The D’Iberville High School Girls’ Powerlifting Team won the Region 4 District Championship over the weekend.

The following competitors placed first at the meet: Illanyis Hernandez (97 pounds); Shae Mallard (105 pounds); Jayden Galbreath (132 pounds); Keiyera Harrison (148 pounds); Sahara Spates (220 pounds) and Stefani Varela (over 220 pounds).

Here are the second-place finishers: Nadjah Moore (114 pounds), Shabria Cronan (198 pounds); Mhykayla McCoy (181 pounds)

Sydney Metz was the only third place finisher at 123 pounds.

Here are the fourth place finishers: Rainee Parfait (114 pounds), Amaya Holmes (165 pounds) and Shabria Cronan (198 pounds).

Track

Long Beach duo strikes gold: Long Beach High’s Destini Pickens and Brooklyn Biancamano captured gold medals at the Last Chance Invitational Indoor Track & Field Meet at Cross-plex Arena in Birmingham last weekend. Pickens, a junior, captured the gold medal in the 400 meter dash in a time of 57.7 seconds. Eighth grader Brooklyn Biancamano won the 3200 meter run in a time of 11:06.
