Ocean Springs wide receiver/defensive back Malcolm Magee made his college choice Sunday.
The two-sport athlete has verbally committed to Louisiana-Lafayette.
Magee chose ULL over a list of schools that includes Colorado State, UMass, Troy, Toledo, Florida Atlantic, Louisiana-Monroe, Southeastern Louisiana, Nicholls, Alcorn State, Central Arkansas and Jackson State.
“I picked ULL because of the environment and coaching staff,” Magee said. “Their campus felt like home to me.”
Magee said his commitment to ULL is solid, but he still plans to visit Colorado State and Florida Atlantic this month. The second National Signing Day period is Feb. 7.
Magee is an honor student who has qualified academically to play as a college freshman next year. He has a 3.2 GPA and made 18 on the ACT.
The 6-foot-, 177-pound Magee is expected to play defensive back at ULL, a member of the Sun Belt conference.
As a senior, Magee had 23 catches for 286 yards and one touchdown. On defense, he made 63 total tackles with three interceptions.
Magee is also a basketball standout for the Greyhounds, averaging 15.8 points and 8.4 rebounds a game.
