Gulfport standout picks up second SEC offer, setting up possible in-state battle
It appears there could be an in-state battle for Coast football standout Derick Hall.
The Gulfport High product earned an Ole Miss offer in late December. He announced Thursday that Mississippi State has joined in, offering the junior Admiral.
The 6-foot-5, 210-pound Hall played on both sides of the ball for Gulfport as a junior this season and finished the year with eight receptions for 132 yards and three touchdowns in addition to 34 tackles, five tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, six quarterback hurries, four passes defended and one 35-yard fumble return for a touchdown.

Hall is also a standout basketball player. Earlier in the week he was averaging 12.8 points, 9.8 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game for the Admirals.
During a visit to Mississippi in early November, CBS’s Tom Lemming identified Hall as a rising prospect to watch.
Hall boasts a basketball scholarship offer from Xavier and has visited Mississippi State, Southern Miss, Nicholls State, Louisiana-Lafayette and Jones County Junior College.
Hall attends the prep alma mater of Ole Miss coach Matt Luke. Ole Miss defensive line coach Freddie Roach is listed as Hall’s direct recruiter.
Hall is scheduled to visit Oxford this weekend.
The Sun Herald is working to update this report.
