Our Lady Academy volleyball standout Emma Funk received her biggest honor Thursday.
Funk was named MaxPrep’s volleyball small school player of the year. Funk is a three-time prep All-American.
“This award is certainly indicative of her on-court skills and accomplishments, but also reflects on her leadership skills and the respect that her teammates have for her, both as a player and a person,” OLA coach Mike Meyers said. “Throughout all of her individual accomplishments, Emma has remained the ultimate team player, always putting her team and teammates first. She loves OLA volleyball and did everything she could to try to make it the best team and program possible.”
Funk, the Sun Herald's first three-time volleyball player of the year, led OLA to a fourth straight state volleyball crown. The Lady Crescents didn’t lose to a Coast team this season.
As a senior, Funk had 630 kills, 113 blocks, 311 digs, 324 service receives and 65 aces. Funk signed with Trinity University last month.
