Here’s who made the All-Region 4-6A teams

Gulfport made a clean sweep of the All-Region 4-6A individual honors, which were released Wednesday morning.

Eddie Pierce was named the region’s Coach of the Year after leading the Admirals (8-4) to a perfect 7-0 mark against division foes. The long-time GHS coach announced his retirement following the Admirals’ first-round defeat to Meridian.

Quarterback T.Q. Newsome was named the region’s Offensive Player of the Year. A junior, Newsome helped lead Gulfport’s new option offense, passing for 633 yards and four touchdowns and rushing for 916 yards and 15 more scores.

Senior linebacker Karlos Dillard was tabbed as the 4-6A Defensive Player of the Year after recording 135 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, one interception and two forced fumbles.
