East Central running back Tony Brown continues to dominate the Sun Herald’s offensive player of the week award.

The senior had 450 all-purpose yards and six touchdowns as the Hornets beat Poplarville 52-45 in the 4A South State Championship game on Friday night.

For the fourth time in the last five weeks, Brown has earned the Sun Herald’s top award, including back-to-back weeks.

Brown ran 17 times for 201 yards and three touchdowns. He also returned two kicks for touchdowns and added a 64-yard TD reception.

“I would be the worst college coach in America because how in the world that kid ain’t got a D-1 scholarship blows my mind,” East Central coach Seth Smith said after the game. “I don’t know what else you do. He’s phenomenal.”
