St. Stanislaus bounced back from a difficult rivalry loss a week ago to rout McComb 35-7 in the Class 4A playoff opener on Friday.

Jake Greer was back to his normal self, completing 8 of 15 passes for 143 yards and three touchdown passes. He also rushed for a 2-yard score.

Greer opened the scoring for SSC (6-5) with a 24-yard pass to Lee Negrotto. The two connected later in the game for a 17-yard strike. Greer also hit Taylor Lafontaine for a late 6-yard strike to cap the scoring.

SSC pulled out a trick play early when halfback Andrew Trapani hit Dallas Payne for a 78-yard touchdown to put the Rockachaws ahead of McComb (4-7) 14-0.

Trapani finished with a game-high 63 yards rushing.

With the win, SSC hosts reigning Class 4A South State champion Poplarville next Friday.
