Ocean Springs turns back Harrison Central in closing minutes

Daveaunce Gaines’ five yard touchdown run with 7:15 left allowed Ocean Springs to hold off Harrison Central 28-27 on Friday night at Earl Phillips Senior Stadium.

It was the season finale for both teams.

The Red Rebels had a chance to win at the end on Robert West’s five-yard TD run with 1:14 left. Harrison Central opted for the win, but a two-point conversion pass fell incomplete.

Running back Keon Moore shined for Harrison Central, rushing 30 times for 212 yards. Chase Jones had 87 yards rushing, passing for one touchdown and running for another.Gannon Stringer threw for a TD.

Ocean Springs’ other touchdowns came on Blake Noblin’s 65 yard TD pass to Khalil Levy, Gaines’ nine-yard TD run and Darian Wallace’s 84 yard kickoff return.
