Running back Tony Brown is a big reason why East Central is considered one of the favorites to win the Class 4A state football title.
The senior earned Sun Herald offensive player of the week honors after leading the unbeaten Hornets (9-0) past Vancleave 62-7 on Friday.
Brown ran 15 times for 201 yards and six touchdowns. Over the past two games, Brown has rushed for 11 touchdowns. For the season, he has 27 touchdowns.
The Hornets will play host to Lanier (4-7) in the first round of the Class 4A South State playoffs on Nov. 3 at Shirley Stadium.
