Poplarville runs away from Sumrall to remain perfect

The Coast’s No. 1 team had little problem dispatching Sumrall on Friday night as Poplarville picked up a lopsided 46-0 victory.

Hornet running back Austin Bolton led Poplarville’s ground attack, rushing eight times for 188 yards and three touchdowns.

Tyson Holston rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown and also caught three passes for 37 yards and a score. Cory Knight and Chase Shears also rushed for touchdowns along with 94 and 120 yards respectively.

Antonio Barnes was efficient at quarterback for Poplarville (8-0, 3-0), completing all five of his passes for 56 yards.

Poplarville is back in action next Friday as the Hornets host Purvis.
