Our Lady Academy came out on top in Tuesday night’s big tilt between South Mississippi volleyball powers. The Lady Crescents defeated Vancleave 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-19) to improve to 28-4. VHS fell to 24-6 with the defeat.
Emma Funk powered OLA with 19 kills, two blocks, eight service points and 22 digs. Rebecca Walk had a team-high 26 kills with two blocks and eight digs. Hannah Gest set up the OLA attack with 43 assists. Margaret White added 10 points, two blocks and 10 digs. Lizzy Mirandy rounded out OLA’s leaders with seven points, five kills and 15 digs.
Payton McKerchie and Carley Danley paced Vancleave’s attack with nine kills apiece. Paige Davis added 22 assists while Sydney Salter had 18 digs.
Ocean Springs def. Oak Grove 3-1 (25-13, 24-26, 25-17, 25-23): Amelia Moore paced Ocean Springs (25-7, 6-0) with 21 kills and eight digs. Kennedy Bahr had 16 digs. Chloe Coulter registered six kills and four digs. Abby Murrell directed the attack with 22 assists to go along with five kills and five digs. Kaytie Rutland had three aces and six kills. Peyton Emperley had 16 assists and six digs. Abby Chapman recorded four kills and four digs. Amberly Blowers also recorded six kills and three aces.
