The George County football team pick up its first Region 3-6A victory Friday night, topping Jim Hill 20-0 in Lucedale.
The Rebels' defense again put in an outstanding effort with sophomore defensive end McKinnley Jackson leading the way. Jackson contributed a touchdown of his own when he recovered a quarterback fumble in the end zone for the final score of the night with 2:36 left in the third quarter.
George County improved to 2-6 overall and 1-2 in region competition prior to hosting a very strong Pearl team this upcoming Friday.
Senior quarterback Jakob Green had the first score of the night for George County, punching it from 1 yard out with 7:09 left in the first quarter.
George County's other quarterback, sophomore Jonovan Jackson, had a 55-yard touchdown run with 11:16 left in the second quarter, handing the Rebels a 14-0 lead at halftime.
