Resurrection comes up just short in shootout at Stringer
The Resurrection Eagles came up just short on the road in a 45-39 shootout at Stringer Friday night.
RCS senior quarterback Blake Porter was 26-of-41 passing for over 250 yards and five touchdowns, but he threw four interceptions, including one in the end zone.
Porter entered the game with just one interception all season.
"We kept spotting them two touchdowns," RCS coach Scott Sisson said. "We'd catch up and them spot them two more touchdowns."
Pat Roth caught three touchdown tosses and Caden Hinman also had a scoring reception. Terry Johnson added a scoring run for the Eagles (2-5, 1-1).
"The turnovers and the missed tackles were the difference in the game," Sisson said. "We had five turnovers and missed 40 tackles.
Resurrection will host Salem (0-7, 0-2) on Friday to continue Region 4-1A competition.
Stringer improved to 6-1 and 1-0.
