Prep roundup: Vancleave bests Greene County to highlight volleyball action

Vancleave (17-4, 2-0) beat Greene County in a district match 3-0 (25-6, 25-7, 25-8) on Thursday. Carly Danley and Payton McKercie led VHS with nine kills each. Paige Davis had 20 assists and Sydney Salter had 22 serves and 13 aces.

George County def. St. Martin 3-1 (27-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-21): Kaitlyn Passeau led GCHS with 11 kills. Tori Havens added four aces. Kylie Meitz also accounted for 14 service points.

Harrison Central def. D’Iberville 3-2 (25-20, 24-26, 18-25, 25-15, 15-8): Alyssa Stoner led HCHS with 14 kills. Isjah Cooper added 10, while Zimar Feyjoo added 11 aces.

Ocean Springs def. Biloxi 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-15): Allison Carpenter helped lead OSHS with four aces and 10 assists. Kaytie Rutland added three aces and five kills. Peyton Emperley led OSHS with 13 assists and added six digs. Kennedy Bahr had a team-high seven digs. Amelia Moore led the Greyhounds (10-7) with 14 kills and added five digs.

Gautier def. Moss Point 3-0 (25-4, 25-1, 25-9): Aliyah Kline had 27 service points and NeNe Boykin added 17. Lanay Williams and Callie Cowan accounted for six and three kills respectively for GHS (5-3, 1-1).

East Central def. Alma Bryant 3-0 (25-23, 25-13, 29-27): Jaelyn Golson led ECHS (5-1) with 13 kills. McKall Holder accounted for five aces and eight digs. Alexis Laughlin chipped in two blocks.

Our Lady Academy def. Resurrection 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-18): Emma Funk recorded 26 kills, six blocks and 14 digs to lead OLA (13-2). Rebecca Walk added 15 kills, three blocks and four digs, while Margaret White had eight kills, two blocks and four digs. Hannah Gest sparked the attack with 39 assists along with six aces.

Slow-pitch softball

George County 7, Biloxi 6: Christine Marsland and Chrysten Bradford led BHS with two hits. Taylor White tallied a two-run double.
