Vancleave sophomore middle hitter earns Sun Herald volleyball honor
Payton McKerchie is the latest standout on Vancleave’s talented volleyball team.
The sophomore middle hitter earned the Sun Herald’s volleyball player of the week award after shining in six matches last week, which Vancleave went 5-1.
In a five set victory over Ocean Springs (25-22, 23-25, 18-25, 25-20,15-11) on Aug. 24, she had 18 kills.
McKerchie had 32 kills as the Lady Bulldogs went 3-1 at the OLA tournament last week.
In a 3-0 win over Gautier (25-20, 25-9, 25-17) Tuesday, McKerchie had 18 kills and four blocks.
