The Resurrection Catholic Eagles started off the 2017 season with a road loss Friday night.

Perry Central topped RCS 20-10 as the Eagles' offense never quite got going.

Resurrection (0-1) cut the Perry Central lead to 13-10 on a 36-yard touchdown pass from Blake Porter to Patrick Roth with 4:34 left in the third quarter, but a fumbled punt with 5:38 remaining helped set up Perry Central for another touchdown with 2:51 left.

Perry Central built a 13-3 lead at the half as all RCS could muster in the first half was a 23-yard field goal by Laken Simkins.

RCS will travel to Escambia (Fla.) Academy next week.
