Prep Roundup: Fast start boosts South Girls in Mississippi All-Star Basketball game

The Coast played a big role in the Mississippi girls’ All-Star Basketball game on Friday at Mississippi College.

St. Martin’s Daphane White scored 16 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked four shots as the South All-Stars beat the North All-Stars 71-60. Chyna Allen of Harrison Central added 14 points. The Coast had other two girls’ players. Gulfport’s Dywana Parker had 2 points, Moss Point’s Celia Rodgers didn’t score.

The North boys won 108-99. Harrison Central’s Dajon Whitworth scored 10 points, Tolu Smith of Bay High had eight points and six rebounds.


Bay High 6, Pass Christian 1: Gage Kiser (3-0) struck out nine and had three hits to lead the Tigers (9-4, 2-2 Region 8-4A). Addison Goscinski homered. Goscinski, Dillan Folse and Cade Compretta all had two hits.

Harrison Central 6, George County 3: Jordan Harris struck out five and had two hits to lead the Red Rebels (7-9, 1-3 Region 8-6A). Dillon Morgan had two RBI.

Ocean Springs 9, Hancock 1: Garrett Crochet had 10 strikeouts to lead the Greyhounds (10-7, 4-0 Region 7-6A). He also added two hits and an RBI. Malcolm Beaugez also had two hits and a homer. Cooper Brune homered. Tres Wade had two hits and an RBI. Britt McKay scored twice.

Biloxi 2, D’Iberville 0: Trey Shaffer tossed a one-hitter. Gabe Garza had three hits, Jake Collier added two for the Indians.

West Harrison 12, Gautier 3: Cade Simon struck out 10 to lead the Hurricanes (13-3). Simon had two hits and pair of RBI. Ephraim Patton had two hits and pair of RBI. DK Donaldson had two RBI. Nathan VanNorman, Cody Gassman, Lawson Capers all had RBI.

Long Beach 8, Pascagoula 7: Scotty Spears got the win in relief. Clayton Maxwell had four hits and two RBI. Austin Allen struck out six for the Bearcats (10-6, 1-1 Region 8-5A). Steven Mota had two hits for Pascagoula.


OLA 5, Richton 1: Dallas Blaker struck out seven and hit a two-run homer for the Lady Crescents (12-2, 4-0 Region 8-2A). Carsen Cuevas, Camille Cattone, and Alex Necaise each had an RBI.

St. Patrick sweeps: Anna D’aquilla got the win as the Lady Irish (10-2) beat Long Beach 16-5. She also had two hits and six RBI. Kirstin Walters and Morgan McCrea each homered. Anna Grace Castanedo had three hits and two RBI. Marissa Hanley had two hits. The Lady Irish beat West Marion 14-0 as Olivia Allen had three hits. D’aquilla tossed a one-hitter and had two hits. McCrea had two hits.
