Meet the Sun Herald Girls Player of the Week

The Pascagoula Lady Panthers cruised to a Region 8-5A championship last week with senior guard Alexis McBeath playing a big role.

McBeath averaged 19 points during tournament play last week. She scored 18 points in a 49-25 win over Long Beach on Tuesday and 20 points in a 54-24 win over West Harrison in the title game.

Pascagoula, which has won 11 of its last 12 games, will host the winner of Laurel-Stone High on Friday in the playoffs. The Lady Panthers are 18-11.
