Hancock captures Jackson Academy Tournament Championship; OLA wins three matches

Hancock (28-3) won the Jackson Academy Tournament on Saturday. The Lady Hawks went 5-0, defeating St. Joseph, Presbyterian Christian twice, Southaven, and Jackson Academy in the championship.

Madison Ladner led the way with 17 aces, 32 points, 37 kills, 88 assists and 12 blocks. Catie Ladner added 9 aces, 21 points, 33 kills. Rylee Swilley had 29 kills and 9 blocks. Destiny Hariel finished with 47 digs.

Our Lady Academy won three matches at the Jackson Academy event.

The Lady Crescents (22-4) beat Southaven, Madison Central and St. Joseph’s all in two sets. Jackson Academy beat the Lady Crescents in three sets.

Emma Funk had 69 kills, 15 blocks and 14 digs for OLA. Hannah Gest added 28 points, 94 assists and five aces. Carson Cuevas had 23 points, four digs and three aces. Alia Tayara added 34 kills, 28 points and eight aces. Rebecca Walk had 24 kills for the reigning state champions.
