Long Beach wins Bearcats’ Cross Country Classic; St. Patrick captures girls’ crown

Long Beach won the boys championship, St. Patrick captured the girls’ title at the Bearcat Cross-Country Classic on Saturday.

Top-10 over-all individual 5K finishers for the Bearcats were: Michael Filibeck, James Dickerson, Elijah Paige and Chase Burkley. Sophomore Devin Carter rounded out the Bearcats’ scoring.

Biloxi was second.

Boys varsity overall 5,000 meter run individual run champion was Cole Benoit of Pearl River Central.

Long Beach finished second in girls.

The Girls varsity overall 5,000 meter run individual champion was St. Patrick's Isabel Leatherman. Other top scorers for the Lady Irish were: Anna Colson, Jordan Pete, Amelia Million and Gabriella Patino.

Sixteen high school and 278 runners competed in the meet.
