Meet the Sun Herald Offensive Player of the Week
Stone High’s Terrion Avery has had a knack for putting up video game-like numbers this season.
Friday’s 49-19 win over No. 7 Pearl River Central was no different. The lead Tomcat helped make homecoming one to remember by rushing for a season-high 273 yards and four touchdowns on 19 carries. Avery’s total is just three yards shy of his career-high, which he earned in last year’s 40-point loss to PRC.
On Friday, Avery helped set the tone early as he broke free for runs of 14, 1 and 2 yards in the first half. He capped his big performance off with an 86-yard run in the second half.
Friday’s performance gives Avery exactly 1,000 yards rushing on the season along with 12 touchdowns.
