Meet the Sun Herald Defensive Player of the Week

One of the better defenses on the Coast came through with the plays when it needed to Friday night as Gulfport topped St. Martin 42-35 in two overtimes.

Gulfport senior defensive back Princeton Fells provided a couple of big plays to put his team in position to win the ball game. He came up with a pair of interceptions, including one he took back 40 yards for a crucial touchdown.

That's why Fells is the Sun Herald Defensive Player of the Week.

The touchdown came with 8:48 left in the fourth quarter as Fells stepped in front of a Wayne Overman pass and had nothing but green grass in front of him on the way to the end zone. Gulfport led 28-17 at that point.

The interceptions were the first two of the season for Fells.
