Resurrection squeaks past Escambia Academy in OT

Running back Patrick Watts ran for 137 yards and scored three touchdowns as Resurrection holds off Escambia Academy 21-20 on Friday night.

Watts scored the game-winning touchdown on a 10-yard run in overtime, putting the Eagles up 21-14.

Escambia Academy, the defending 3A champions in Alabama, scored to get within 21-20. Resurrection stopped Escambia Academy on the two-point conversion at the one-yard-line.

“Winning the game was huge because of the atmosphere,” Eagles coach Scott Sisson said. “A lot of our young players grew up tonight. It’ll help us down the road.”
