Meet the Sun Herald’s Volleyball player of the week

Vancleave defensive specialist Sydney Salter is the Sun Herald’s volleyball player of the week.

The freshman had 30 service points and 10 aces as the Lady Bulldogs beat Moss Point 25-8, 25-2, 25-10. In a losing effort against Our Lady Academy, Salter had nine service points and nine digs.

“Sydney is an outstanding athlete,’’ Vancleave coach Haley Chatham said. “She’s the total package. She’s a leader, coachable and takes directions well. She is a very important part of the defense we run and plays a huge part in our team's successful floor game. In my opinion, she's one of the best defensive players around.”
