George County senior quarterback LaRaymond Spivery put up big numbers in the passing game, but the Pascagoula defense made the plays it needed to Friday night in a 36-29 win over the Rebels at War Memorial Stadium in Pascagoula.

Laterrance Addison led an opportunistic defense with two interceptions and a forced fumble. The fumble late in the fourth quarter finished off the Panthers’ first win of the season.

Addison’s big night earned him the Sun Herald Defensive Player of the Week honor.

One of Addison’s interceptions came on a tipped pass in the end zone to preserve Pascagoula’s 15-14 lead with four minutes left in the third quarter.

Pascagoula is 1-3 as it enters a bye week. The Panthers open region play on Sept. 23 against Long Beach in Pascagoula.
