Friday night's trip to Leakesville didn't go as planned for the Moss Point Tigers.

Greene County, which picked up its first win of the season, scored the final 29 points of the game to take down Moss Point 49-28.

“Their quarterback got loose and threw the ball well, ran the ball well,” Moss Point coach Willie Brown said. “We were actually up and just couldn't maintain. Once they got up, we were not able to keep up with them.”

Senior quarterback Romello Leggins earned his third rushing touchdown of the night with 45 seconds left in the first half to give Moss Point a 28-20 lead at halftime. The score was set up by a Devin Simpson interception just 30 seconds earlier.

Omni Wells had the only other score of the night for Moss Point, which dropped to 2-2 with the loss.

The game was still within reach at the end of the third quarter with Greene County leading 34-28, but Moss Point couldn't find a way to score in the game's final 12 minutes.

Moss Point will host Long Beach on Friday before entering the bye week.

“Football is a reflection of life,” Brown said. “We've got to find a way to get focused.

“We've got some growing pains. We had some success earlier. You have to learn how to dea; with success and we have a lot to overcome. We're just going to stay at it.”
