The Fayard's Marathon Gulf Coast Junior Tour tees off June 9 at The Oaks Golf Club in Pass Christian. Juniors five through eighteen can join the GCJT at www.golfcoast.com and start signing up for tournaments after registering.
So far the tour will visit The Oaks, Shell Landing and Hickory Hill during the June-July regular season and Pine Burr CC in August for the GCJT Tour Championship. Three other venues will be added to the schedule soon.
Juniors in six divisions will compete for Player of the Year honors, earning points for finishes. The 9-and-under SUSA Yellow and 10-11 SUSA White Divisions will play nine holes, while the 12-13 SM Living Green, 14-15 Pepsi Blue, 16-18 Nevada Bob's Black, 12-18 Girl's Red and 12-18 High School Golf Team Divisions will play 18 holes.
The new 12-18 High School Golf Team Division was created for juniors who aspire to play collegiate golf or who just want to improve their positions on their respective golf teams. As always, parents can follow live scoring at www.golfcoast.com throughout the season.
The Gulf Coast Junior Golf League and the PGA of America League again tee off with several golf professionals across the Coast giving their time to promote golf. Interested juniors can contact their golf professionals for more information. The Mississippi Junior Golf Association schedule can be found at www.missgolf.org. The Arrowhead and Southeastern Junior Golf Tours have several tournaments scheduled for the area. Schedules can be found on their respective sites.
Juniors, don't be late for your tee time. Several tours, camps and clinics can be found at golf courses across the Coast, and your tee time is now. Put down the remote and pick up some dimples.
