SEC will be hit hard once again by MLB draft
It's an annual tradition like so many in the SEC.
A year ago the league saw plenty of active players selected in the MLB draft, with four plucked in the top 10 picks, 13 in the first 100 and 71 overall.
Expect more of the same in 2016. MLBPipeline.com has 17 active players -- plus 18 signees -- projected in the top 100.
According to the rankings, only Missouri and Alabama won't have players selected in the first 100 spots.
Vanderbilt and Florida are projected to be hit the hardest. The Gators have five current players in the top 100, including LHP A.J. Puk (No. 5) and outfielder Buddy Reed (16). UF also has one signee listed.
Vanderbilt has three current players projected to be drafted and another four signees. The 'Dores seem to always find a way to get highly-drafted signees to show, but they'll have work to do to get Barnnegat, N.J. LHP Jason Groome (1), Shenendehowa, N.Y., RHP Ian Anderson (11) and Florence, Ala., LHP Braxton Garrett (14) to show.
Bulldogs & Rebels
Mississippi State ace RHP Dakota Hudson is slotted to go 10th overall. George County's own Walker Robbins (91), a Bulldog commit, should hear his name early as well.
Ole Miss doesn't have any active players listed, but signees Ryan Rolison (80) and Cooper Johnson (72) will likely have decisions to make.
Tune in
The draft is set for June 9-11 and will be broadcast on MLB Network and MLB.com.
