With 100 days left before the opening kickoff of the 2016 season, Mississippi Gulf Coast released its schedule Tuesday.
The Bulldogs, who went 8-3 last season and finished ranked eighth in the country, open the MACJC season against a familiar opponent on Sept. 1. Coach Chad Huff's Gulf Coast squad will travel to Itawamba to play the Indians for the third time in four games.
The teams closed out the regular season and opened the 2015 playoffs with games in Perkinston. Gulf Coast won those two games, before playing in the state championship game.
It will be three straight games against Gulf Coast for Itawamba, which is coached by Huff's Delta State teammate and roommate, Sean Cannon.
Gulf Coast plays its next two games at home against teams that finished last season in the Top 10. No. 7 East Mississippi visits a renovated A.L. May Memorial Stadium on Sept. 8, with No. 4 Copiah-Lincoln coming to Perkinston on Sept. 15.
Hinds visits A.L. May on Sept. 29. All Thursday games at MGCCC will start at 7 p.m.
Homecoming will be played against archrival Pearl River on Oct. 22. Kickoff will be at 3:30 p.m.
The Bulldogs also play road games at No. 10 East Central (Sept. 22), Mississippi Delta (Oct. 6), Southwest (Oct. 13) and Jones County (Oct. 27).
