CLARKSDALE – Pearl River jumped on Coahoma for 20 points in the first quarter and cruised to a 32-6 victory over the Tigers in the 2015 season opener Thursday night at James E. Miller Stadium.
The Wildcats (1-0) forced three turnovers in the first half, and got a safety in the second half, and used big plays on offense to get going early.
Freshman tailback Darious Leggett ran 12 times for 121 yards, including an 85-yard burst on PRCC’s second play from scrimmage.
Redshirt sophomore Mack Lowrie was 6 of 14 for 129 yards and a pair of touchdowns on a 35-yard play to Cameron Bolton and an 18-yard toss to Joronnie Hinton.
PRCC will be back on the road next week to battle Holmes before hosting Hinds on Sept. 10 in its South Division opener.
