The hunt for one of the country’s top junior college linemen came to a close Monday.

Gulf Coast lineman D’Marcus Hayes announced on his Twitter account that he has committed to Georgia.

“Very blessed to announce that I will be playing for The University of Georgia next season,” he tweeted.

Hayes committed to UGA over offers from Louisville, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Auburn and others.

247Sports’ composite ranking has the 6-foot-6, 320-pound tackle ranked as the 24th-best junior college prospect in the 2017 class. He’s also ranked as the second-best tackle.

“I’m very excited for D’Marcus,” MGCCC coach Chad Huff said. “He’s an athletic, long and very talented offensive lineman who is only going to continue to get better and develop.”

Huff also praised the work of his OL coach, Les George, who has helped get the team’s last two left tackles to the SEC; two years ago, Martinas Rankin was considered one of the top JUCO linemen in the country before signing with Mississippi State.
