PRCC will induct six members into its Hall of Fame class Saturday
Former football coach Tim Hatten and quarterback Jimmy Oliver headline Pearl River Community College’s Hall of Fame class of 2016.
The other selections are pitcher Kyle Lindsey, golfer Coby Scarborough, soccer star Breeana Fortenberry and football star Lou Martensen.
Induction ceremonies will be held at 8:45 a.m. Friday at the Technology Center on the PRCC campus. All six will be recognized during the PRCC-Co-Lin football game on Saturday at Dobie Holden Stadium.
Oliver, who later played at Jackson State, led PRCC to two MACJC state titles and was NJCAA player of the year in 2005. Under Hatten, the Wildcats won MACJC state championships in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006. His record at PRCC: 80-30.
“I was fortunate in that we always had pretty decent players at Pearl River,” Hatten said in a news release. “We had a pretty good run there. Without Jimmy Oliver, there is no Tim Hatten because of what he did at Pearl River and what he did in the league. When you got off the bus with Jimmy Oliver, there was a 95 percent chance you were going to win.”
Scarborough and Fortenberry are both Picayune natives.
