Meridian linebacker Santrell Latham announced that he has verbally committed to Southern Miss Wednesday on Twitter.

Latham also has scholarship offers from Memphis, Middle Tennessee, South Alabama and Texas-San Antonio, according to Rivals.com.

At 6-foot-3, 198 pounds, Latham is a player with room to grow. He had 56 tackles, 3.5 sacks, an interception and five tackles for lost yardage as a junior.

Latham is the second high school player to commit to USM this week after St. Amant, La., kicker Briggs Bourgeois committed to the Golden Eagles on Monday.
