Southern Miss basketball signs junior college guard
Northeastern (Colo.) Community College guard Marcus Cooper has signed with Southern Miss men's basketball team, the school announced on Monday.
Cooper, a native of Van Nuys, Calif., also held scholarship offers from Maine and Nicholls State.
The 6-foot-3 guard from Van Nuys, Calif., averaged 16.4 points and 1.8 assists last season. He shot 39.5-percent from 3-point range and 80.7 percent from the line.
"Marcus should be a great fit for our program," USM coach Doc Sadler said in a press release. "He is a complete guard, who is extremely athletic. I like how he is a capable 3-point shooter, who can also attack the basket. We look forward to having him in the program next season."
