C-USA honors Southern Miss catcher Robinson

Southern Miss junior catcher Chuckie Robinson was named the Conference USA Hitter of the Week on Monday after leading his team to a sweep of Western Kentucky in Hattiesburg.

Robinson had eight hits, including two home runs, while driving in 11 runs in the three games at Pete Taylor Park.

Robinson's biggest day at the plate came in the series opener against WKU when he went 5-for-5 with seven RBIs.

Robinson, who has hit safely in the last six games, is batting .305 with five homers and 37 RBIs.

Southern Miss (34-14, 18-6) is tied with Rice for first place in Conference USA. The Eagles host Louisiana Tech (31-14, 15-9) in a three-game series starting at 6 p.m. on Friday.
