Receiver Michael Thomas became the first Southern Miss football player picked in the 2016 NFL Draft in the sixth round on Saturday.
Thomas was the 31st selection in the round, giving USM at least one player selected in each of the last five drafts.
Thomas had a breakout senior season at USM in 2015 with 71 catches for 1,391 yards and 14 touchdowns. He set the school records for touchdown catches and receiving yardage in a season.
Thomas is a native of Chicago, where the draft is being held this season.
