Southern Miss' football team had its 10th spring practice halted by rain for 45 minutes Thursday but still finished strong.
"I felt like we had a good day," USM coach Jay Hopson said. "We certainly got interrupted with the rain and lightning but we were able to start it off on the practice field then get over to the game field and finish things up there."
Although practice was stopped, Hopson actually appreciated the dreary conditions.
"It's always nice to get as much rain and wet ball work as you can get. That kind of stuff really helps," he said. "During the spring you hate to waste a day so going out in the rain and getting work out of it is good. I thought we handled the ball well and that is a big positive."
