The Southern Miss football program received one of its top verbal commitments for the class of 2016 on Saturday.

Starkville defensive end Lorenzo Dantzler announced on Twitter his commitment to the Golden Eagles during his official visit to the Hattiesburg campus.

Dantzler chose USM over Memphis, Louisiana Tech, Purdue, Middle Tennessee and Buffalo.

Dantzler, who is listed at 6-foot-2, 240 pounds, registered 53 tackles and 13 sacks as a senior at Starkville in 2015.

He is rated a three-star prospect by 247sports.com.

Dantzler has enjoyed his weekend visit to USM and he's made that clear on his Twitter account. One of his tweets said: "Southern Miss has to be one of the most beautiful campuses in the United States."
