Southern Miss receives commitment from Alabama receiver

Athens, Ala., receiver Terrance Watkins announced Tuesday night on Twitter that he has verbally committed to play football at Southern Miss.

Watkins picked USM over Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, Georgia Southern, Samford and Central Arkansas.

Watkins, who is listed at 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, is set to join former Athens teammate Paxton Schrimsher, a redshirt freshman linebacker, at USM.

Watkins had 44 catches for 847 yards and 12 touchdowns last season as a receiver for Athens. He also averaged 30.1 yards on on 17 kickoff returns last season.
