Southern Miss' Jenkins named C-USA Freshman of the Week

Freshman center Caitlin Jenkins was voted Conference USA Freshman of the Week following a pair of double-double performances.

Jenkins averaged a double-double of 22.5 points and 15.0 rebounds to help lead Southern Miss to a pair of wins. Against William Carey, the Shreveport, La., product scored 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting. She also grabbed 15 rebounds to go with two assists, three blocks and four steals in 27 minutes. In the conference opener, Jenkins scored a season-high 29 points while hauling in 15 rebounds. She was 13-of-19 from the field and recorded four blocks. She also averaged 2.0 steals and 3.5 blocks while shooting 66.7 percent from the field. It is the first C-USA weekly honor of Jenkin's career.
