Southern Miss lands 3rd in-state defensive lineman commitment for 2016
The Southern Miss football program received arguably its most important verbal commitment yet for the class of 2016 on Tuesday.
McComb defensive end KaDerrion Mason announced on Twitter Tuesday night that he has verbally committed to the Golden Eagles.
I'm officially committing to the University of Southern Miss.#SMTTT
— KaDerrion Mason (@KaderrionM) December 23, 2015Mason, who is rated a three-star prospect by Scout.com, also held scholarship offers from Mississippi State, California, Kentucky, West Virginia, Louisiana Tech and Missouri.
Mason stands 6-foot-4, 245 pounds and switched from basketball to football late in his high school career.
Mason could easily transition to defensive tackle if he packs on the pounds.
Mason is the third defensive lineman to commit to USM for 2016 and all three are in-state high school prospects. Mason is joined by D'Iberville defensive end Jacques Turner and Harrison Central defensive tackle Jordon Beaton.
