Southern Miss receives commitment from 1 of Coast's top seniors

D'Iberville defensive end Jacques Turner gave his verbal commitment to Southern Miss on Sunday.

Turner is a 6-foot-3, 240-pound senior who also holds scholarship offers from Purdue, UCF, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana-Lafayette and several other programs.

"This was a long and hard decision to make but I think it's best for me and my family," Turner said in a statement on Twitter. "I want to thank all the schools that recruited me and gave me a chance."

Turner is having a big senior season for the Warriors with 67 tackles, a team-leading 5.5 sacks and 10 tackles for lost yardage through 10 games.

Turner, who is rated a two-star prospect by Rivals.com, is regarded as one of the top senior recruits on the Coast this season.
