Southern Miss running back Jalen Richard was named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week Monday for his big performance in USM's 56-50 win at Texas State Saturday.
Richard rushed 27 times for 230 yards and four touchdowns to help the Golden Eagles improve to 2-1.
Richard became the first USM player to rush for four touchdowns in a game since former quarterback Austin Davis did it in 2010.
Richard had a career night that included touchdown rushes of 53 and 64 yards. The 64-yard run provided the final score of the game for the Golden Eagles and helped seal the victory with just over 6 minutes remaining.
